Ron's* story
For many years Ron* worked as a carpenter for a building firm. During his employment, he was required to use materials made of asbestos such as sheeting board, roof materials and as a result was exposed to asbestos dust. After retirement, Ron * developed asbestosis, which resulted in breathing difficulties and the need for future medical treatment. Maddens Lawyers issued Court proceedings against the insurer for Ron’s* former employer, and the manufacturers of the asbestos product in the Supreme Court of Victoria. The matter settled at mediation for a substantial six figure sum, which included compensation for pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and past and future medical expenses. The settlement reserved the right to sue again if he later contracted a different asbestos related illness.
