Carwoola Fire
On Friday 17 February 2017, a fire broke out in Carwoola, New South Wales, 10 kilometres east of Queaneyan. The fire burnt through 3,500 hectares of land, destroying 11 homes and damaging 12 more. Other losses include livestock, fencing, pastures and outbuildings.
Maddens Lawyers has issued a representative (class action) proceeding in the Supreme Court of New South Wales against Advanced Plumbing and Drains Pty Ltd. It is alleged that the fire started on private property in the course of an Advanced Plumbing employee undertaking work involving the use of a power cutting wheel that caused the discharge of sparks. The fire occurred on a day of total fire ban.
The class action is brought on behalf of all persons who suffered:
- personal injury (whether physical or psychiatric injury)
- loss of or damage to property.
