Law Clerk – Casual

Play a critical role in one of Australia’s largest class actions.

Maddens Lawyers is seeking Law Clerks that are fluent in Japanese to assist in completing the discovery of documents for our Toyota Diesel Defeat Device Class Action. You will work closely with a team of highly experienced solicitors and play an important role in identifying documents that strengthen our client’s claims. This role can be based remotely or in the Maddens Lawyers office, however initial on-boarding will require attendance at our Warrnambool office.

The Toyota Diesel Defeat Device Class Action was launched by Maddens Lawyers on behalf of up to half a million owners of diesel-powered Toyota vehicles. The class action has the potential to be one of the biggest claims in Australia’s legal history and could result in millions of dollars in compensation for group members.

The role will give you the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals while making a valued contribution to a high-profile class action.

What you will bring to the role
– Japanese language skills (essential requirement), in particular the ability to read and translate Japanese.
– Attention to detail and ability to stay focused.
– Self-disciplined and motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
– Strong written and oral communication skills.
– Previous experience using eDiscovery software desirable, but not essential.
– Ability to work minimum 3 days per week.
