On 19 December 2015, 4000 hectares of land and 12 houses were burnt in the area of Scotsburn, south of Ballarat in central west Victoria.
Maddens Lawyers has now launched a Class Action on behalf of local landowners affected by the fire.
The blaze broke out in Finns Road, Scotsburn, around 3pm on Saturday 19 December, burning more than 4000 hectares and 12 houses in the Scotsburn region.
The Class Action has been launched in order to help local landowners achieve compensation for losses that were not covered by their current insurance.
The Class Action has been commenced on behalf of all persons who, as a result of the Scotsburn bushfire, suffered:
Anyone who fits that description, including any legal personal representatives of the estates of any deceased person who would have otherwise qualified, are defined as ‘Group Members’ in the Class Action.
The Amended Statement of Claim has been filed by Maddens Lawyers on behalf of the lead plaintiff.
