Private: 2013 Springwood-Winmalee Fire

2013 SPRINGWOOD-WINMALEE-YELLOW ROCK BUSHFIRE

The Springwood-Winmalee-Yellow Rock Bushfire of October 17 2013 is alleged to have started when a poorly-maintained tree fell on electrical conductors in Linksview Road, Springwood on the afternoon of October 17.

The ensuing blaze destroyed in excess of 200 houses and badly damaged another 200 properties.

Additionally, local businesses that escaped the fire itself endured critical losses in the months following, as the regular summer tourist trade steered clear of the blackened region and surrounding townships.

On May 16, 2014, Maddens Lawyers issued proceedings against New South Wales power company Endeavour Energy, on behalf of residents and business owners burnt out by the Springwood-Winmalee-Yellow Rock fire.

Endeavour Energy have subsequently joined Osborne Aviation Services Pty Ltd as a second defendant to this proceeding.
